U.S. GRANT FOUNDATIONS ALSO PEAKED IN 2004 GIVING AWAY $15.5B
In 2004, U.S. grant dollars from grant foundations reached $15.5 billion. This is following the decline in 2002 and 2003.
From this amount, Education takes the largest share of 23.4% or a total of $3.6 million dollars of the total grant funding. Health’s share of the total grants reached a record of 22.3% boosted by a $750 million ten-year grant from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Other areas include Human Services at 13.87%, Public Affairs, 12.95%, Arts and Culture, 12.79%, and more.
