FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SPENT $460 BILLION ON GRANTS IN 2004

For the fiscal year 2004, the US Federal government expenditures totaled $3.2 trillion and $460 billion or 14% of the total went to grants. The amount reported was appropriated for the direct expenditure of obligation categories totaling $2.2 trillion and for other federal assistance (loans and insurance programs) totaling $1.0 trillion.
